A Littleton resident said Republican Tim Reichert has earned her vote in the upcoming primary election for Colorado's 7th Congressional District.

Kathy Wanja, a parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Littleton, told South Jefferson County News she supports Reichert because of his faith and business experience.

"It didn't take me long to jump on board with Tim Reichert," Wanja said. "He is everything I would look for in a candidate and more. Centered in his Catholic faith, a family-first man, and someone who has extensive real world business and economics experience. We are blessed to have someone like Tim offering to serve the communities of Colorado District 7."

Reichert faces two opponents in the June 28 Republican primary: Erik Aadland and Laurel Imer, Ballotpedia reported. The 7th District's lines were redrawn after the 2020 census.

Reichert is a businessman and economist with a plan aimed at finding solutions for the issues the economy faces, Reichert's website said. He supports simplifying regulations for small businesses and reestablishing fair trade laws to give small businesses a better chance against larger corporations. He believes employers who sell stock in their company to employees should be able to do so without hefty taxes. His "middle class restoration plan" aims to make entrepreneurship and owning a business easier for "the little guy," as well as tackle record inflation.

Colorado's 7th District traditionally has been held by a Democrat, but with the new district lines, it should be a more competitive race, Colorado Public Radio reported. Current 7th District Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) has decided not to seek reelection. CPR said Reichert appeals to the middle class due to his many endorsements from business owners and his plans for the economy.
