Lakewood issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.
Lakewood is looking for hometown artists to create the design for the city’s annual Earth Day Celebration. The winning design will be used on posters, T-shirts, social media posts and other materials, and the artist receives $200. Submit a design by Jan. 15 at Lakewood.org/EarthDay.
The city’s celebration has transformed over the years into a community festival that features music, food, art, exhibits and activities that spread environmental awareness and bring the community together. In 2020, the celebration went virtual, and thousands of Lakewood residents were able to come together online to educate and learn from one another, dance, create and celebrate. Watch it online.
While it is uncertain what the 2021 Lakewood Earth Day Celebration will look like, the city looks forward to celebrating with the community in the safest way possible and having a local artist represented through this contest.
