On Monday, January 31, the Workforce and Community Programs and Sturm Collaboration Campus teams toured the DCSD Legacy Campus in Lone Tree, which is slated to open in Fall 2023. With our hardhats on, we were able to see the spaces where Douglas County high school students will soon participate in pathways such as EMT, Nursing and Robotics.
Starting next fall, Douglas County high school juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to attend the DCSD Legacy campus part-time, and take classes in a variety of highly employable fields. Arapahoe Community College will partner with DSCD to provide concurrent/dual credit opportunities and industry certifications in Robotics, Nursing, EMT/EMS, Building Controls Technology, Architectural Engineering, and Secure Network Technologies.
Much of this responsive and innovative work will be possible because of the American Rescue Plan Act’s (ARPA) funding to Douglas County, which will support:
- Acquisition of equipment for ACC’s new Advanced Robotics and Automation Lab
- Construction of a Mobile Health and Medical Skills Lab and EMT Simulation Classroom
- Expansion of internships, scholarships, and student support for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and those with traumatic brain injury in Douglas County through ACC's Elevate and RISE programs
