Lakewood Heritage, Culture & the Arts presents
INSPIRE Arts Week, May 27 to June 3
May 16, 2023 – Celebrating the vast variety of art offered throughout the city, INSPIRE Arts Week encompasses more than 20 galleries, cultural centers, shops and other art venues in Lakewood hosting free and low-cost arts and culture experiences from May 27 to June 3.
The city’s arts facilities including Lakewood Cultural Center, Washington Heights Arts Center and Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park will host several free community arts engagement activities throughout INSPIRE Arts Week.
INSPIRE Arts Week will kick off at the Lakewood Cultural Center with exhibitions:
• “A Space to ‘Be’” -featuring atmospheric and serene paintings.
• “The Passions Project” -celebrating the beauty of aging.
• “Creative Culture” -exploring the talents of Lakewood volunteers and staff.
• “Recalibrated Reflections” -showcasing muralists painting within the gallery space.
This carefully crafted partnership showcases the vibrant and rich arts culture flourishing in the third largest city in the metro area. Connect with a myriad of local artists, galleries, makers and creative spaces at First Friday events in the 40W Arts District on June 2. Experience the vibrancy of The Art Block at Belmar or the diversity in the exhibition by students at Red Rocks Community College. Looking to get interactive? Participate in creative activities at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD), and the Belmar Library, or take a walk along Alameda to experience the exceptional public art supported by Alameda Connects.
The week culminates with the Rockin’ Block Party at Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park on June 3. There is no better time than a Colorado summer to get out and celebrate the creative organizations and events that make up the City of Lakewood’s INSPIRE Arts Week.
For the complete list of events, visit Lakewood.org/INSPIRE, or visit the websites of the participating organizations. For more detailed information, please contact Arts Programming Curator Laine Godsey at 303-987-7844 or LaiGod@Lakewood.org.
