Big Soda Lake at BCLP open for the season
Parts of the park remain closed due to flooding
June 2, 2022 – The popular Bear Creek Lake Park’s sandy swim beach at Big Soda Lake opened May 27, kicking off the summer season. Bear Creek Lake Park,15600 W. Morrison Road, remains one of Lakewood’s top destinations to recreate or relax in the sun.
The park gates open at 6 a.m. during the summer, with most of the park areas open as usual. Due to flooding that occurred on May 11 and 12, some closures remain in place within the park and around Bear Creek Reservoir.
Bear Creek Reservoir closures:
- The boat ramp remains closed, including the gravel parking lot to the west.
- Restrooms, shelters, docks and piers are closed.
- Hand-launched boats are allowed; no trailer-launched boats will be permitted.
- No roadside parking is available to launch boats.
- Parking lot, restroom and fishing pier are closed.
- Hand-launched boats are allowed; no trailer-launched boats will be permitted.
- The following trails are closed. Stay off muddy trails to minimize additional damage.
- Cottonwood Trail
- Fisherman’s Trail
- Mount Carbon Trail
- Coyote Gulch Trail
- Turkey Creek trails
- Water is available at the campground.
- The dump station is open but does not have rinse water.
- Big Soda Lake will close on Wednesday, June 7 for non-toxic, blue-green algae treatment. The Lake will reopen on June 8.
