Lakewood issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.

The application process for awarding another $375,000 to nonprofits through Lakewood’s COVID-19 Nonprofit Grant program has opened and will remain open until 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at Lakewood.org/CovidNonprofitGrant.

Nonprofits serving Lakewood residents are eligible to apply, and funds must be spent on goods or services that offer relief to Lakewood residents from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Personnel costs are not eligible for the program.

City Council approved a second round of funding for the grants on Monday because of the level of need demonstrated through the first round of applications, which garnered more than $600,000 in requests. In June, the city provided 24 nonprofits with $375,000 in grants from the city’s share of the federal relief bill known as the CARES Act. The second round of $375,000 is also funded from the city’s share of the CARES Act.
